Trinity uses the same rulings as the TCG, but with these additional rules.
These rules are designed with both balance and interaction in mind.
Trinity's Summon Limit.png
Summon Limit
You can't Normal/Special Summon more than 3 Effect Monsters
each turn.

  • Non-Effect monsters don't count towards the Limit.
  • Flip Summoning and Setting for your Normal Summon don't count, either.

Highlander
By default, there can be only one copy of each card in your
Main, Extra, and Side Deck.

Trinity's Point System.png
Points List
The minimum Maindeck size is 30.
For every 5 cards above that, you get 1 Point. You can spend points to include 1 of these in your Deck:

  • 1 One-Point card.
  • 2 Different Half-Point cards.
  • An extra copy of any 1 unlimited card.
Here's the list of Pointed Cards.

With these changes, what do Decks look like?
Here's an example Decklist!

  • Most cards in this deck are 1-ofs.
  • However, this deck has extra copies of some Normal Monsters, as Normal Monsters are exempt from the Highlander Rule!

  • This deck is 45 cards.
The builder went 15 cards over the 30-card minimum.
For every 5 cards over, they get 1 point, so this is a 3-point Deck.
  • That's why this deck has an extra Adamancipator Analyzer
(as well as some half-point cards!)

what do Duels normally look like?
Here's a recent replay!

  • Note how both players can't summon more than 3 effect monsters per turn!
  • Also note how Normal Monsters aren't part of that limit!
